About NAIST

About Nara Institute of Science and Technology

NAIST is a national university comprised solely of graduate schools at Kansai Science City in Japan. The full name is the Nara Institute of Science and Technology.

NAIST consists of the Graduate School of Information Sciences, Biological Sciences and Materials Science. Its objectives are to promote basic research in advanced sciences and technologies, and to educate accomplished individuals capable of pursuing R&D in those areas at universities and industries.

Today, more than 200 faculties and over 1,000 graduate students (doctoral students are more than 300) are working to achieve the objectives, and publishing much of research papers and products in each area. Through their efforts, NAIST is one of the Centers of Excellence elected Japanese government.
